The exploits of various guests and staff at a luxury resort over the course of a week. HBO has renewed the series for a second season, although the show was intended as a one-season limited miniseries. It is said that the show will be an anthology-style series with new characters for each season. HBO has already done this (to great acclaim) with the series True Detective (2014). Included in Jeremy Vine: Episode #4,175 (2021). Although some parts of the first season were cringe-worthy. This second season is as masterful as one could hope for. The first episode starts off a little slow, but soon finds its stride and never fails to impress and captivate me as if I weren’t fully experienced yet. It feels like a replay of every thought I’ve ever had at a vacation resort, many of which I’ve long since forgotten. For that reason alone it’s a delight, but don’t worry, it goes much further than that, flirting with operatic heights of drama and beauty, which is entirely appropriate given the setting of Sicily. Given the excellent acting and the apparent effortlessness of the story, I have to say that Mike White, the creator of this series, is some sort of unsung genius. The guy seems to be unaware of any limitations and has one of the keenest eyes for detail I’ve ever seen.
